Sanctions & achievements (PART 1)

Despite the sanctions Iran has made noteworthy progress in the petroleum industry.

2.5 million barrels per day was the crude oil Iran sold in early 2018. Today that figure has fallen to 500.000; thats a fifth. Its no thanks to US sanctions. However, at this critical time its comforting for the nation to be alerted to the discovery of a new oilfield Namavaran and more importantly, a refreshed resolve to do more with resources in hand.

The final wave of sanctions or rather the economic war waged on Iran in 2018, with the US pullout from the JCPOA on 8th May of that year, only made Iran more determined.

Determined to get out of its dependencies once and for all. One dependency being on crude oil sales, Iran pushed ahead with Persian Gulf Star Refinery PGSR. With PGSR called Setareh Khalije Fars in Persian, Iran is now self-sufficient for petrol or gasoline, good Euro 4 and 5 standard petrol. With that, it could even ramp up its export capacity.
